DOOM: The Paul Review

I am a videogame nerd. I feel a certain responsibility to patronize the films that attempt to translate the worlds greatest hobby into celluloid magic, so I went to see DOOM.

Boo, Hiss!

Oh sweet lord, this is without a doubt one of the three worst films ever made. Batman and Robin is still the undisputed champ, however DOOM is a true challenge for the throne.

Nothing happens in this film. No characters are developed. No plot is followed. Nothing happens. For the first forty minutes of this movie you are gently rocked to sleep by the assy-ness of the dialogue, lack of action, and pointless meandering exposition. Then you are mildly nudged from slumber with a flurry of explosions and curse words. Boo! Damn. I knew this film was bad from reviews I had read, still this thing needs a surgeon generals warning "May Cause Loss Of Feeling In Brain". I have never wanted to leave a film so badly. Skilz treated me to the ticket and I still want my money back with interest. The end credits do have Nine Inch Nails playing over them so that was bearable. Avoid this film like a leper colony. Ugh I can still taste it! Never clean again!!!

215.5

Yes you read it right, 215.5. that's where we stand today folks. My elliptical trainer broke again this week so I purchased the new Dance Dance revolution extreme 2 to keep my cardio flowin'. Last time I got serious about my weight I made it down to 205. This time I will break past 200. Maybe before the year is out, maybe not, but soon.

Busy couple of days ahead. Got a bizco gig on Monday evening for a GE convention. Gotta represent. Then on Tuesday I'm taking the Pretty hate machine, aka my car to the dealer for some maintenance. I'm a little nervous because she has been acting rather strange the last few weeks and I hope nothing too major is wrong. She does have an oil leak so that alone could be big time work. We shall see.

Anne gets here next week, Hurrah!

don't forget the party kids. Mon oct 31 8pm till question mark!

A Super Yum Yum Night!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank you!

What an amazing evening we had last night. The Super Yum Yum 2 reunion show was a rousing success. We packed over 100 people into our tiny Black Box space. So many familiar faces! We actually had to turn folks away at a certain point. You guys made my wildest dreams come true. I felt like the four of us really hit our groove again. The show was definitely one of out top 3 in my opinion. Skilz said it was his favorite so far and he's seen a ton of our shows, so that was great to hear. It just sucks that half our posse is in Chi-town. Hopefully we will have some kind of holiday Special in the near future if the kids come back in the winter. I am so proud of my friends Griffin, Irene and Doug. I honestly got a little misty before the show. You guys are family, I love ya!

So yea, I haven't posted since God was a kid. Just busy, that's all. Still fighting the weight loss battle. 218.5 today so that's great. I'm upping my workout regimen and being a bit more strict on my eating practices(last night's Chip Butty at the Crown excluded). Work has ben a floury of activity. Monorail promos and weddings all the time it seems. This last week flew by and it was fun. More business at the trek on fri and sat so that's good. My picture is in the new Monorail Magazine, available for free near the monorail stations in town. Vo'qha looks most menacing. My classes are going well. We had a very arduous lesson this week but I think we are really getting somewhere through the struggle. Half way done already! Time flies. Got a Scriptless show tonight. Should rock out. I got a Bizco gig next week through second city, Yea! Busy man.

I yearn for Anne. She has been working so hard these last couple of weeks and the last few days we haven't had much time to talk. Our schedules are just different right now. I love her so much and I can't wait till she flies in on Halloween! Speaking of which:

Happy Birthday

So we had Britt's B-day party at the Cherokee house yesterday. It was quite successful. Man was I exhausted by the end of the evening. Too much dancing in my nerd suit. Lots of cool outfits though. Way to represent, kids.

Classes have begun for me and I am teaching twice a week now for second city. As usual the classes are full of cool people and I find myself excited about improvisation again through their enthusiasm for it. The new show is about to premier on the mainstage so that's exciting too.

SERENITY

A fine, fine, film indeed. Firefly fans will eat it up with a spoon. I have to say that this space stuff is still my favorite of the Wheadon offerings. I still can't handle the Buffy. Go see serenity because it deserves to be seen. It is far better than most films so far this year. At least the ones I have seen.

I bought the Stewie movie, The new offering from Seth McFarlane and the Family Guy crew. So very funny. There is one bit in the movie about an inflatable waving flailing arm man warehouse that must be see to be believed. I have not laughed so much in quite some time. Anne was here for a couple of days and we got to chill out and watch the movie together. It was wonderful to have her here. I miss her so much. She had an early flight this morning. We both had to go back to work today. Boo, hiss.
